Who Should Attend:
You are a Singapore Public Officer who is interested in gaining knowledge and skills in research-based strategies to cope with stress and enhance your personal mental wellbeing and safeguard your own mental health (i.e., self-care), and provide psychosocial support to those around you.
Programme Overview
Workplace mental well-being has become increasingly important to all, especially in the current Covid-19 pandemic situation. Presented in partnership with Ngee Ann Polytechnic, this programme is designed and developed to equip officers with skills to provide peer support to others around them. This programme will cover the principles of mental health and there will be activities to help officers apply the principles and techniques to provide peer support to others, and safeguard their mental well-being while being a peer supporter.

- Understand the importance of mental health and the symptoms of common workplace mental health challenges
- Apply psychological first aid principles and empathic listening strategies to support others in the workplace
- Apply self-care and stress management strategies to enhance personal mental wellbeing

Module 1 – Mental Health at the Workplace
- Introduction to mental health and its relevance in the workplace
Module 2 – Psychological First Aid Principles
- Introduction to psychological first aid principles
Module 3 – Signs and Symtoms of Common Mental Health Problems
- Understanding signs and symptoms of common mental health problems in the workplace - stress, depression, anxiety, suicide ideation
Module 4 – Introduction to Verbal and Non-Verbal Empathic Listening strategies
- Practise using empathic and active listening strategies to engage in supportive conversations with individuals
Module 5 – Signposting
- Learn about mental health services that are available, and signposting others to them
Module 6 – Apply the Psychological First-Aid Principles
- Applying principles collective to support others who are facing situations that are overwhelming and difficult to cope with
Module 7 – Practising Self-Care
- Online self-assessment and debrief of personal stress and recovery status. Learn about research-based stress management strategies and create a self-care action plan
