Senior officers of MX 10 – 12 public and civil officers of varying employment experiences who would like to gain deeper self-awareness of their skills and abilities in their jobs as part of their long-term career planning.
Programme Fees and Grants
PSD will subsidise $342.00 of the total programme fee before GST. The grant is valid from 01 Apr 2025 to 31 Mar 2026. Please note that you need to complete the programme in order to qualify for the grant.

Learning Outcomes

This course will help participants to achieve the following objectives:

  • Understand the evolution of jobs and work traits and today’s recruitment and job seeking behaviours
  • Build up self knowledge by analysing the work characteristics required of different jobs
  • Identify transferable traits for new areas of work by analysing important work characteristics in demand
  • Communicate the analysis of your work characteristics and transferable skills at work in resume and interview preparation

This is a 2 days program which will be conducted virtually via Zoom. 


Day 1 (4 hours)

  • Gain deeper understanding about labour market behaviours and how it shapes recruitment perspectives.
  • Learn to identify and qualify the work characteristics of current job and using it to understand person to job fit and skills fit.


1 week break: Preparation work for Day 2

  • Obtain a job description for desired job and draft a set of job specifications for desired job by using what was learnt in Day 1


Day 2 (4 hours)

  • Learn to identify transferable and important work characteristics for longer term career planning
  • Apply the use of transferable and important work characteristics towards different forms of expression (eg. resumes, interview)

Gerald Tan Ziping

Gerald is passionate about the advocacy and use of career development towards helping people find meaning and purpose in their careers. He enjoys developing career development interventions, services and consultancy to help individuals and groups with varying career needs on a systemic level. As the Projects Director and an experienced Career Developer of Avodah People Solutions, he has supported more than 300 individuals with their career needs, working with various schools, companies and non profit organisations on career development projects to support students, employees and beneficiaries. Gerald’s early career comprise a decade in the Public Service for workforce development, public employment services work. His experiences include reviewing unemployment support policies, designing and operating career services for the public and leading a team to develop skills and training advisory services for Singapore. He has deep knowledge about the career transitions, understanding how employers and job seekers need to work together to facilitate career transitions.
