Who Should Attend:

You are a public communication and/or engagement practitioner involved or will be involved in public engagement work. This programme is open to Singapore Public Officers only.

Programme Fees and Grants

PSD will subsidise $464.00 of the total programme fee before GST. The grant is valid from 01 Apr 2025 to 31 Mar 2026. Please note that you need to complete the programme in order to qualify for the grant.

Programme Overview

With a stronger focus on public engagement across the public service, public engagement officers like you can benefit from a deeper awareness and application of facilitation theory and practice in your work. Engaging the Public requires a different skillset than engaging internal stakeholders. This highly experiential and interactive programme will deepen your skills in facilitating public engagement, and its practicum component will give you a valuable opportunity to facilitate and receive developmental feedback from your peers and course facilitators, all in a supportive environment.

Learning Outcomes

Describe the role & responsibilities of a facilitator in public engagement.
Demonstrate a neutral facilitator stance when they facilitate engagement sessions.
Conduct focused discussions based on a pre-designed format.
Design questions that are closely aligned to session objectives and follow-up questions to elicit deeper responses and clarify assumptions.
Conduct effective openings & closings to create a safe and relaxed climate for participants.
Anticipate challenging participant behaviours and use appropriate verbal and non-verbal strategies to manage participants’ behaviours.
Use the divergent and convergent framework in their facilitation practices.
Identify the hallmarks of consensus-building.

Peter Seah

Peter is the founder of Transforming Conversations Consulting Pte Ltd. He is adept in designing, facilitating and implementing initiatives to bring about sustainable organisation change from front-line to C-suite levels. Peter is a Certified Professional Facilitator and Certified Assessor with the International Association of Facilitators, delivering programmes in international conferences. In addition, he is also certified in related professional certifications, such as the Human Systems Dynamics Professional (HSD Institute) and Advance Systems Thinking Facilitator (Waters Centre).

Choo Wei-lin

Wei-lin has been active in training facilitation work and coaching for more than 20 years. For over 10 years, she has been an Associate Trainer with CSC, and was previously awarded CSC’s Associate Excellence Award in 2021. Wei-lin is currently involved in facilitation and coaching programmes for leadership development. She is also WSQ ACTA certified, and is a certified Time to Think Facilitator.

Anita Yap

Anita is the Founder, Principal Coach, and Facilitator of Entheos, a firm dedicated to empowering individuals and organizations through dialogue, learning, and inspired actions. With 15 years of multinational and government experience working with prominent clients, Anita is also a Certified Professional Coach, Certified Professional Facilitator of the International Association of Facilitators, Certified Facilitator in the Technology of Participation(TM) methods and an accredited facilitator in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator profiling instrument.

Anita has designed flagship programmes and led workshops in leadership, coaching, change management, and more, enabling her participants to transfer the skills and knowledge from the classroom to their work and personal life.
