Programme Overview

Amidst rapid disruption, public officers would have to equip themselves with the tools and skills to thrive in a workforce where diversity and uncertainty are the new constants. In an era where working together becomes more collaborative, inclusive and strategic, it is important for public officers to be able to manage stakeholder relationships in the workplace through effective communication approaches.

  • Describe the impact of Emotional Intelligence in communication and relationship management using Goleman's 4 EQ Domains
  • Describe the four styles of communication to manage relationships effectively
  • Apply skills such as assertive communication, empathy and conflict resolution to communicate and collaborate effectively in the workplace

This programme is designed to equip learners with essential skills such as assertive communication, empathic communication, influencing, conflict resolution and stakeholder management.

Pre-Programme: EQ Profiling Assessment

  • Introduction to Goleman’s 4 EQ domains and discussion on the two core competencies (self and social competencies)
  • Coping strategies to manage one’s own emotions
  • Empathic communication as a key component in stakeholder management.
  • Introduction of the 4 styles of communication
  • Application of the styles to communicate and manage stakeholders in an assertive manner
  • Application Activity: Communication and Relationship Management Cases

*A 20 minute Q&A session is included to facilitate participant's questions based on the results of their EQ Profiling Assessment
