With the Public Sector Transformation movement, agencies and officers would need to develop new capabilities, explore new ways of working to serve Singaporeans better, and improve the way we work within the Public Service.
Other than functional and technical competencies, it is paramount for officers to be equipped with future-ready skills or "soft skills" for the Future Work, Future Workplace and Future Workforce. These future-ready skills are unique skillsets to value-add in a highly-digitalised and automated workforce, and are transferrable skills to enable officers' career mobility.
Critical thinking is one of the core skills required of public officers in the current and future workplace. Critical thinking enables officers to gain clarity and objectivity of issues, grasp the context of a situation even when full information is not available, and make sound, timely decisions to address the situation.
